Francois Groenewald vs Alain Ilunga - EFC14

Today the Extreme Fighting Championship announced the final fight for their June 1st fight card at EFC 14. Johannesburg's Francois Groenewald will face Cape Town's Alain Ilunga in a featherweight match.

Francois Groenewald

Francois Groenewald (2-2, 0-2 EFC) has had a tough time in the EFC. Against both Abdul Hassan and Dino Bertolis, the talented grappler spent the full 15 minutes locked in combat only to lose via judges decision. Groenewald however is no slouch and has two professional submission victories, including one against Wesley Hawkey (#2 Featherweight Rankings). Groenewald will value the opportunity to once more showcase his skills to an EFC audience and prove what a dangerous fighter he really is.

Alain "Commander" Ilunga

Panther Fighting Arts fighter Alain Ilunga (1-0) was originally slated to face Johan van Staden at EFC 13 but Van Staden was forced to withdraw from the contest due to medical reasons. Ilunga will now face Francois Groenewald in his EFC Africa debut, in a fight which could kick start his professional MMA career.

Alain Ilunga hails from a striking background, but showed some grappling prowess at CFL 01 where he submitted Mbasa Cakta in his professional debut. At EFC 14, he will face one of the divisions most dangerous grapplers in a match-up which will likely see both men hold a significant advantage in their respective areas of expertise.
